Yogyakarta – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), officially launched the Summer Course on Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries 2026, themed “Reimagining Tropical Farming and Fisheries for the New Generation,” on Monday, 6 July 2026. The opening day was conducted fully online, bringing together more than 55 participants from various countries for the first academic sessions of the international program.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., who emphasized the importance of international collaboration in preparing the next generation to address global challenges related to food security, climate change, and sustainable natural resource management. He also highlighted that the summer course serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, cross-cultural learning, and academic networking among participants from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. read more

As part of its commitment to enhancing international student services, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a meeting with Mr. Bram, owner of Bu Darno Homestay, to explore opportunities for providing comfortable, affordable, and culturally enriching accommodation for international students. The meeting brought together representatives of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM and Mr. Bram, whose homestay has hosted numerous international students participating in exchange programs, research internships, summer courses, and other academic activities at UGM. read more

As part of this commitment, an evaluation session was conducted for the AIMS (Asian International Mobility for Students) Inbound Program 2026, involving international students currently studying at the Faculty of Agriculture. One of the participants in this evaluation was Han Sangyeol, an inbound student from Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea, who spent one semester studying at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM through the AIMS Program. The evaluation aimed to gather feedback on academic experiences, cultural adaptation, student support services, and other aspects of the program that could be further improved in future implementations. read more

The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) continues to support students in gaining meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom through direct engagement with communities. One example is student participation in the SUIJI Service Learning Program (SUIJI-SLP), an international exchange program that combines academic learning, field observation, problem-solving, and cross-cultural exchange through a service-learning approach.

Muhammad Syahru Ramadhan, a student of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, had the opportunity to participate in the SUIJI-SLP program, which brought together students from various universities in Indonesia and Japan. The program involved participants from UGM, IPB University, Hasanuddin University, and Kagawa University in Japan. Through this exchange experience, Syahru gained valuable insights from academic activities, community observations, and collaborative problem-solving initiatives. According to him, every activity within the program was meaningful and impactful because SUIJI-SLP emphasizes learning through direct community engagement. “During the exchange program, I gained many valuable experiences, ranging from learning activities to problem-solving processes. In my opinion, every agenda in SUIJI-SLP felt meaningful and beneficial because the program focuses on Service Learning,” said Syahru. read more

Sherly Aurora Cahyadewi, a student from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, had the opportunity to participate in the AIMS exchange program for one semester at Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea. Through the program, students are able to engage in academic activities at partner universities while gaining firsthand experience in adapting to different educational systems, cultures, and social environments abroad. read more

One such opportunity is the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme, a student exchange initiative under the coordination of SEAMEO RIHED that involves partner universities across Asia, including Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Nabilah Salma Jamaludin, a 2022 student of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program, had the opportunity to participate in the AIMS Program at Ibaraki University, Japan. The program lasted approximately four months, from mid-September until the end of January. Through this experience, students not only attended academic courses but also gained research experience, cultural adaptation skills, and valuable interactions within an international academic environment. read more

The Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada through the AIMS Committee organized the “Sharing Session AIMS Alumni & Opening Recruitment AIMS Student 2026” as part of the Kick-Off AIMS Odd Semester 2026 program. The activity served as an introductory and evaluation forum for the implementation of the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme while also providing information regarding student recruitment for the upcoming exchange period.
